Decision Trees & Packing Slips for Smarter Surveys & Smoother Fulfillment

Decision Trees & Packing Slips for Smarter Surveys & Smoother Fulfillment

We continue to expand Hive with practical tools designed to make post-campaign management easier, from collecting the right information from backers to preparing fulfillment.

Here are two new features worth checking out.

Smarter Surveys with Decision Trees

Not every backer needs to answer the same questions.

With Survey Decision Trees, creators can build surveys that adapt based on the answers a backer gives. A response to one question can determine which question appears next, allowing different backers to follow different paths through the same survey.

For example, if a backer selects one product option, the next question can focus specifically on that choice. Someone selecting another option can automatically be taken down a different path.

Because Decision Trees use Hive's Wizard Layout, questions are presented one at a time. Choices can also be applied immediately to the pledge, for example, adding an add-on or freebie before the backer continues to the next relevant question.

Creators can combine this with Hive's existing survey filters to control which questions are shown based on pledge, add-ons, backer type, or previous answers. This makes it possible to build much more targeted survey experiences without overwhelming every backer with every possible question.

Hive also includes a Preview Decision Tree tool that provides a visual representation of the complete flow, making it easier to review how questions and answers connect before the survey goes live.

The result is a cleaner survey journey, with each backer seeing the questions that are actually relevant to them.

Prepare Orders with Packing Slips

Once pledges are finalized, the challenge moves from collecting information to preparing the right products for each order.

Hive can generate an individual PDF packing slip for each selected order, giving the person preparing the package a clear reference for exactly what should go inside before the courier or shipping label is attached.

This can be especially useful for campaigns where backers have different pledge combinations, add-ons, upgrades, or product variations.

Creators can build their own packing-slip template and include information such as the company logo, project name, backer's shipping details, barcode, SKU list and generation date.

Existing fulfillment filters also apply when generating packing slips, which means creators can prepare orders in batches based on the same fulfillment segmentation they are already using.

Instead of relying on spreadsheets or manually checking the contents of every individual pledge, the packing team gets a clear document showing what belongs in each order.

From Better Questions to Better Packing

Decision Trees and Packing Slips support two very different stages of the post-campaign journey. Decision Trees help creators collect the right information from the right backers, while Packing Slips help turn that information into correctly prepared orders.

Together, they help make the journey from finalized pledge to packed order simpler, clearer, and easier to manage.
