Intro to King of Hades

The land of Gea has been thrown into chaos with the sudden arrival of Poligon, the King of Hades, and ancient heroes now clash to control his mysterious power. King of Hades: The Arrival is an asymmetric competitive strategy board game for 2–6 players that unfolds across three distinct chapters, each with unique objectives and shifting alliances.

Players take on the roles of legendary heroes from rival races—Legurians, Ge-Ants, and Dragonrace—each with their own abilities and strategic strengths. Turns are driven by action choices and tactical movement across a richly interconnected map, where positioning, combat, and resourceful card play are essential. Players will explore sacred spots, enhance their heroes, trade or craft powerful equipment, and engage in strategic combat as they pursue chapter-specific victory conditions.

Combat is resolved through a blend of movement, attack and defence cards, and careful use of hero abilities, while special map locations open paths to upgrades, treasures, and card manipulation. Throughout the three chapters—The Arrival, The Sacred War, and The Betrayal—players will adapt their strategies as objectives shift from chase and capture to team conflict and free-for-all supremacy.

With deep strategic choices, variable player powers, and campaign progression between modes, King of Hades: The Arrival offers a rich competitive experience that rewards tactical planning and opportunistic play.

In the mythic land of Gaia, ancient peace has been shattered by the sudden arrival of Poligon, the exiled King of Hades. Six powerful heroes now stand at the center of the brewing storm, each with their own ambitions, secrets, and dark motivations:

From the immortal Legourian princes and cunning human outcasts, to exiled dragon shapeshifters and mysterious spellweavers — these are the first legendary figures you will command in the conflict for Gaia’s fate.

This is only the beginning. While these six heroes launch the saga of King of Hades, many more characters from this rich world are waiting in the shadows… ready to make their appearance in future expansions.

Meet Our Heroes

Hero Cards / Hero Boards

Each player’s Hero Card (also called Hero Board) serves as their personal dashboard throughout the game. Placed visibly in front of them, it displays all the essential information about their hero: Health Points, Movement value, Melee and Ranged Attack strength, starting location, and their unique Special Abilities. Equipment cards are placed directly onto the Hero Card, and players track their current Health by marking the numbered track at the top. This allows everyone at the table to quickly see each hero’s capabilities and current status at any moment.

Player Cards

The game features a rich variety of Player Cards that drive most of the strategic depth and excitement. Divided into Attack, Defense, Ability, Equipment, and rare Special cards, these cards are drawn from a central deck and held in your hand (maximum 10 cards). During your turn, you can spend one of your two actions to play Attack or Ability cards, while Defense cards can be played at any time when attacked. Equipment cards are placed onto your Hero Card to give permanent bonuses. At the end of every turn, you draw one new card, creating constant tactical choices between using powerful effects or conserving cards for future turns.
