    • We worked with our fulfillment partners to obtain real world estimates, however as with any external factor such as shipping, sometimes there are items that are out of our immediate control. Grod Games Gives Back

A Tribute to Our Friend and Fellow Gamer: 

On January 18 of 2024, the same day our team finished preparing our ‘Version 1’ of a print-ready prototype, our friend and fellow gamer Brandon passed away due to complications associated with Marfan syndrome. Brandon was an inspiration for us. He was one of our first play testers, and in a profound way, opened up the hobby of board games with us when we had but a handful of games in our collection.

We would not have worked on this project if not for Brandon’s impact (and often stubborn opinion) about board games. To honor his memory, 5% of profits of the sale of this game will be donated to research on the condition of Marfan syndrome. At the time of writing, we don’t yet know what our costs or proceeds will be, so we will begin an annual update about the donation in our newsletter at year-end 2025. Partnership with Boardgames for the Better 

We first met Board Games for the Better this spring at Long Island Tabletop Convention and are excited to partner with them to allow backers to donate games for their cause.  Board Games for the Better is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that gifts board games and board game experiences to underserved communities to improve mental health, relieve stress, and provide opportunities for social engagement. 

Grod Games is partnering with this organization to offer an "add-on" reward for backers to donate a base copy of the game to communities in need.

Here's how it works.

1. Pick Your Reward: Click the Big green "Back This Project" button at the top of the page. Select your desired reward tier and click the green pledge button below the reward you would like to make a pledge..
2. Pledge Collection: If the campaign reaches its funding goal, Kickstarter will collect your payment for your pledge
3. Pledge Manager: Shortly after the Kickstarter campaign ends, we will give access to the pledge manager. Here you may modify your order, add extras of your choice, and provide your shipping address. In the pledge manager we will be collecting applicable taxes and payment for shipping. 
4. Production Updates: During manufacturing, shipping, and fulfillment, we will send you email updates with the latest progress on Estate: Raise the Realm.

February Update - Fulfillment Complete!

Hi Everyone - 


We’re excited to share that fulfillment is officially complete! 🎉

It’s been awesome seeing photos of your games arriving, hearing about your first plays, and reading your favorite moments from Estate: Raise the Realm.  

On our end, all packages are currently showing as delivered. However, if you did not receive your game or if something isn’t quite right with your copy, please submit a customer support request through the pledge manager and we’ll take care of it. 


Local Pickup

For those who selected local pickup in the Orlando area, pickup coordination is beginning this weekend. Kathryn has been reaching out directly via email to schedule handoffs. If you selected local pickup and haven’t seen an email, please check your spam folder or reach out through the pledge manager so we can get you scheduled.


Deluxe vs. Standard Edition Component Counts

We’ve received a few questions about component differences between the Deluxe and Standard editions, so here’s a quick breakdown of the upgraded components:

  • Wooden Upgraded Resources: 30 Grain; 30 Wood; 20 Stone; 20 Iron;
  • Metal Coins: 15 $1 silver coins; 5 $3 gold coins

Why are there more punch-out resources than upgraded pieces?

  • During pre-production, we had extra space on one of the punch boards and decided to include additional resource and coin punch-outs - including a few extra wood and coin pieces (and some $5 coins).
  • Most games of Estate: Raise the Realm won’t require these extra resources. However, we know certain strategies can generate significant amounts of gold or wood, so we increased those quantities in the Standard Edition to ensure gameplay never feels constrained
  • There is never intended to be a hard limit on resources or coins, so the punch-out pieces can be used whenever additional supply is needed


Looking Ahead 

If you’ve had a chance to play already, we would greatly appreciate you sharing your thoughts on Board Game Geek. Reviews and ratings make a meaningful difference for small publishers like us. And if any questions come up during gameplay, please post them in the BGG forum. We’re actively monitoring that space and are working on a consolidated FAQ for easy reference.


This has been an incredible journey bringing Estate: Raise the Realm into the world - we've learned so much, met so many amazing people, and we’re not done! We’re already working on future games in the Estate universe, including a world map project with James that we’re excited to share more about soon.
