QR Code Generator

Overview
Hive’s QR Code Generator is a free feature available to all creators using our Pro package. While there are many QR code generators out there, Hive’s tool is built specifically for creators and goes beyond the basics.
With Hive, you can generate two types of QR codes:
- Custom URL QR Code
- Enter any custom URL, and Hive instantly creates a QR code that directs to that link.
- Perfect for directing backers or customers to your website, Kickstarter page, or any landing page. - Payment QR Code
- Choose a currency, and Hive generates a QR code that links to a custom Hive-hosted page.
- This page displays your company logo, asks the customer to enter an amount in the pre-selected currency, and provides a PayPal button. Payments can be completed via PayPal or debit/credit card.
- For this feature to work, simply add your PayPal email in your Account Information settings. Payments go directly to your PayPal account, Hive charges no fees.
For both types of QR codes, Hive automatically tracks view counts and click counts, so you can measure effectiveness. You can also download the QR code images and use them anywhere: flyers, banners, product labels, or convention booths.
This makes Hive’s QR Code Generator unique: not only does it provide advanced payment functionality, but it also gives you detailed performance statistics, for free.
Case Studies
Case 1: Marketing with Custom URL
A creator is preparing for a convention and wants to drive traffic to their ongoing Kickstarter campaign. Using Hive, they generate a QR code pointing to the campaign page and print it on:
- Banners placed around their booth
- Flyers handed to attendees
- Product labels or coupons given out as promotional material
- Use large, high-contrast QR codes on banners so they are easy to scan from a distance.
- Place QR codes on takeaway items (flyers, coupons) so people can act on them later.
- Pair the QR code with a short call-to-action like “Scan to Back Now” or “Join the Campaign!”.
Case 2: Getting Paid at Conventions
Imagine you’re at a convention and don’t have a POS system to accept credit cards. Normally, you might rely on PayPal.me, but that requires the customer to have a PayPal account and, if you’re in another country, may involve confusing currency conversions. This often leads to lost sales while you waste time explaining the process.
- A customer scans the QR code at your booth.
- They enter the amount they need to pay.
- The payment currency is already pre-defined by you, so there’s no manual conversion hassle.
- They complete the transaction instantly with PayPal or any debit/credit card.
- Print your payment QR code on a tabletop sign or badge holder at your booth.
- If you attend multiple conventions, create a separate QR code for each one to track performance.
- Always double-check your PayPal email is set correctly in Hive before the event.
