Info
In this tab, you will find out all the business and marketing information of the company. The more information you upload about your company, the more professional your page and your invoices will look.
Hive Package
At the top of this tab you can see which package of services you have chosen (this can be the Basic or Pro) and the percentage of the Hive Fee that is applied to the money our platform collects on your behalf from your backers.

Invoice Information
Our platform generates a PDF invoice for each of your backers. Backers can download the PDF from the relevant button within their pledge.
The information on the invoice includes your company's name, logo, address information filled out in the relevant fields in the "Account Information" tab, and details of the backer's pledge, add-ons, shipping costs, taxes, and payments.
This information is also used when issuing our Remittance Invoice to send you your funds. Ensure that all details are accurate to avoid any delays in payouts. Some banks may request the Remittance Invoice before releasing the funds to your bank account. If the provided information does not match your bank's records, they may decline to release the wire transfer, resulting in the funds returning to us and incurring additional fees for the process.
Profile Page
On the right side at the top, you can find a blue "View Profile Page" button. When you click this button, you are taken to your own profile page in our platform. This page is publicly available to all backers.
The more information you upload about your company, the more professional your page will look, and that increases your credibility as a creator in the crowd-funding community.
Best Practices Tip: This page can be used for marketing promotion campaigns as a landing page to drive more backers to your pledge manager or followers to your current and next campaign. You should make sure you upload a nice Logo, a Cover image and at least a couple of your own Social Media profile's links.
Terms & Conditions
At the end of the checkout process, a backer accepts a set of Terms & Conditions. You should fill out here your terms, so that the backer can see them. Those terms are also visible when someone clicks the button "Creator Terms & Conditions" that is visible in your Profile's Page.
You can see below a template/example of a set of terms. Please make sure to add to your information a set of terms that work for you.

By confirming your order, you agree that your contribution to the project is final and no refunds will be issued except at the creator's absolute discretion.
You further acknowledge that the final look, materials and content of the order (and the project) are subject to change and may differ from what is presented on Kickstarter or other relevant site.
You agree that our responsibility to you is to ship your rewards as entered into our pledge manager system, you are responsible for import duties or any other duties that may be payable to the relevant tax authorities (import duties may apply to all countries except US, Canada, Australia, China, UK and European Union Countries).
You are also responsible for providing correct address information and ensuring this address is deliverable by normal methods. At the same time, you need to monitor the project's Kickstarter updates, and all emails concerning the delivery process. If failure to follow these procedures results to the package not being delivered, you will have to pay the shipping costs to be sent again.
Payment Details
Depending on the currency of your project, once your pledge manager is completed we can send you the money in two different ways:
Projects in Non-USD
If your project is in any currency other than USD, then we will can only money from your backers using Paypal. Also we can only send the money to you via Paypal.
In this case you must fill out a valid Paypal Email, where you want to receive your money.
Please note that Paypal will require your account to be Verified, and this process takes about a week. If you do not have a Verified Paypal Account, and you will run your project in non-USD currency, you should start the verification process as soon as possible to avoid delays in getting your money.
Projects in USD
If your project is in USD, then your backers can pay using Paypal, Square, or Stripe as payment methods. In this case we can send you the money either via Paypal or a Wire Transfer.
Please fill out the appropriate information before requesting a remittance payout.
Taxes / Tariffs
In Hive you can define two different types of Tax rules:
- Company Tax Rules: These are defined inside the Taxes tab of your Account Information page, and they are applied bey default to all of your projects.
- Project Specific Tax Rules: These are defined from within your project (go to the "Basics" tab of your project and click the relevant link), and they override any matching company tax rules.
We understand that each creator has different needs and different policies concerning the way you process your Taxes. That is why within our platform, you can customize the VAT/Tax attributes and behavior to match your requirements.
Both types of Tax Rules (company and project specific), have the same configuration parameters.
When you define a Tax rule, you can define whether it applies to a specific Zone, or a specific Country, or a specific State in a country. You also define the percentage you want our system to charge, and whether this is a Default rule.
How does the system find the correct tax rule to apply?
First of all, to apply tax rules, you need to activate the "Tax Collection" setting in your project (from within the "Basics" tab). That will let the system know that a Tax Rule needs to be found.
The system will check first if there is a project specific rule for a backer, if there is, it will use that one. If it doesn't find one, then it will check for a company specific rule that may apply.
When trying to find an applicable rule, the system will check the backer's country. If it is US or Canada, the system first looks for a tax rule associated directly with the backer's state/province. If no tax rule is found, then it will check for a tax associated with the backer's country. If again no rule is found, then it will check if the country is part of a Zone and if that Zone has a tax rule. If no rule is found, then it will try and find a tax rule entry that is marked as "Default".
If a tax rule is found, that percentage of tax is applied to the TOTAL of a backer's pledge. This means the total of the main reward and the addons. You can choose whether this is applied also to the Shipping Costs (or not).
Retailers and Taxes
If you have defined one of your pledges as an "Is Retailer?" pledge, then when a backer selects it, they need to pass through a special verification process. Once we (Hive) verify that the business information of the retailer seems legit, then we mark them as "Verified Retailer".
By default, our system will not charge Verified Retailers any taxes. Please note that for EU, the retailer needs to be Verified and to have submitted a valid VIES EU VAT ID.
When defining a Tax rule, you can choose to force our system to charge tax to retailers of a specific state/country/zone by checking the relevant field. If you do so, that will override the default behavior and the system will always charge everyone from that state/country/zone the defined tax.
EU / UK Tax Rules
For your convenience, if you want to add the VAT rates of all EU countries and United Kingdom, click here to download the relevant CSV file. Then use the "Import Taxes" button to import it in your account.
US Tariffs
If you want to charge a percentage to collect the money for US tariffs, follow these steps:
- Create a new Tax Rule in our system.
- Set the country to United States.
- Check the "Exempt Shipping" box.
- Check the "Apply On Top" box. This is needed so that if you also define State Tax Rules, the Tariffs will also be applied at the same time.
- Add a custom caption like "US Tariffs".
Please note that tariffs should only apply to the cost of the goods, not the shipping costs. This differs from how VAT works in the EU or how Sales Tax is applied in most other countries.
Additionally, keep in mind that tariffs are based on the manufacturing cost of the product, not the retail price. As such, you may need to adjust the percentage accordingly.
Activating Taxes
If you want for a specific project the system to use the tax rules defined and collect taxes, then you need to go to that project's "Basics" tab, and activate the flag "Tax Collection?". If you do not do so, the system will not collect taxes.

In this tab you can manage who has access to your account, and to which parts of it.
