You Are the Zombie, Not the Survivor
Most zombie games make you feel hunted. Zombie Overlord makes you feel dangerous.
You don’t flee the apocalypse- you control it. While survivors wander the wasteland in desperation, you decide who gets trapped, who gets converted, and who gets left behind.
Trap-and-Convert Gameplay
You don’t just lure survivors... you turn them into your army.
Survivors roam the wasteland in desperation. By placing traps that match the resources they’re searching for, you lure them to your base and convert them into loyal undead minions.
Every survivor you claim permanently strengthens your deck, unlocking stronger attacks, better combos, and new strategic paths.
But every survivor is contested. Attack your rivals, sabotage their traps, or out-lure them entirely.
Strategic Trap Warfare
Your traps are both your weapons—and your greatest vulnerability.
Trap Cards shape the battlefield and define your strategy, each tied to different resource types and abilities that fuel combos, attacks, and disruption. Build deadly combos, bait opponents into bad decisions, or watch your plans explode when rivals destroy or deactivate your traps. No strategy is ever safe, and no game plays out the same way twice.
This creates constant tactical tension:
- Sabotage enemy traps to steal their advantage.
- Decide whether to strike directly at your rivals, or dismantle their trap network to control the battlefield.
No plan survives contact with rival Zombie Lords.

USE OF AI
Zombie Overlord is a fully hand-crafted game.
All artwork and graphic design illustrated by hand, in Adobe Illustrator. No AI-generated art or assets were used in the creation of the game.
Game design, mechanics, and written content were all created without AI.
AI tools were only used behind the scenes for research and planning, never in the creation of the game itself.
The Creator
Hi, I’m Erick, the creator of Zombie Overlord and founder of Rising Warrior Games.
Zombie Overlord didn’t start as the game it is today.
Originally, it was a survival game where players built defenses and tried to outlast a growing zombie horde. But something felt off. The gameplay felt forced, and it never quite clicked.
Everything changed when I flipped the script.
Instead of surviving the apocalypse, what if you controlled it?
That shift unlocked everything. The game became faster, more interactive, and far more strategic. Instead of defending against zombies, players now build their own horde, luring survivors, setting traps, and turning them into part of their engine.
I was ready to start serious playtesting… and then life happened.
COVID hit. I started a taco business, moved to a new state, got married, and had two kids. The game sat on the shelf for a while. But the idea never left.
When things finally settled down, I came back to Zombie Overlord and have been working on it almost every day for the past year, refining, testing, and shaping it into what it is now.
After years of playtesting, there’s one funny realization:
I’ve only won my own game twice.
Maybe I focus too much on watching how others play. Maybe I care more about whether people are having fun rather than winning. Or maybe I’m just not very good at deck-builders.
Either way, that’s the goal, to create a game where every player feels like they have a real shot, and every session plays out differently.
I hope Zombie Overlord becomes one of those games you bring back to the table again and again. Competitive, chaotic, and full of moments worth talking about.
This is just the beginning, I’m excited to continue building games and expanding the world of Zombie Overlord.

Maximiliano Musso (AKA Chino The Goat) is the artist behind the look and personality of Zombie Overlord. He’s responsible for the characters, backgrounds, and most of the visual identity you see throughout the game.
After years of working together, he’s been incredibly patient with me, and stuck with the project every step of the way as it came together.
