Springsign

Springsign

Councilors build a town together... but in the end, only one can be mayor!

You and your friends are Springsign's town councilors, and will need to grow your humble frontier settlement by constructing new buildings, feeding settlers, fighting bandits, and generally keeping life humming along. There's just one catch: this is not a cooperative game! Though you're managing the town together, only one player can win the election and become mayor — it's up to you to prove you're the right critter for the job!

Retailers

If you are a retail store interested in getting a stock of Springsign, please email us at omegagamesllc@gmail.com!

The goal of Springsign is to win The Election at the end of the game by having the most votes. To get votes, you'll need popularity, which is collected through a variety of actions and abilities. Let's learn how by walking through the game.

Each player board has a streamlined "Beginner" side and an asymmetric "Adept" side. Each side is equally powerful, so it's up to the player which one they want to use.

Each Settler card in town generates new resources, which the players will use during the coming Season. If you've hired any Settlers, those resources go right into your inventory.

Your player board will give you some actions, but you'll gain others during the game. A common action you'll take will be to Explore the World, which lets you add new cards to town (for a reward from the town's market)!

Some other common actions are Hiring a Settler to generate resources for you, Studying a Relic to gain a powerful new action or passive ability, and Fighting a Bandit to claim its bounty (and there are many more!).

To gain popularity with your actions, you'll need to plan your turns around the Building cards in town, which will reward you with popularity for fulfilling their requirements.

This step ends once each player has decided to stop taking actions and Return Home.

- Dissatisfied Settlers Leave. Settlers who haven't sold all their wares will look for work elsewhere. Their leftover resources become available in the town market.

- Troublemakers Act. Any Bandits (and some trouble-making Settlers) who haven't been dealt with will cause Anarchy in town. Careful — if Anarchy gets too strong, it can win the game instead, causing all the players to lose!

- Town Votes. Whoever has accumulated the most popularity scores a vote, then resets their marker on the popularity track.

- New Settlers Arrive. New Settler cards are played to town, making the game ready for the next Season!

Springsign can be played solo with a few simple rules tweaks. In addition to normal Troublemaker activity, Anarchy gains Popularity every time a Settler leaves town during the "Dissatisfied Settlers Leave" step. This makes Solo Mode a race against time to get votes before Anarchy wins!

We get it. You're thinking: is this really a project I need to back now, or can I just get this when it comes out in retail? We think you shouldn't wait, and here's a few reasons why.

We will only offer the Deluxe Edition to backers on this crowdfunding campaign, or another crowdfunding campaign if we are able to do a reprint. We will not offer the Deluxe Edition in retail stores unless it's to sell out of the stock we have to make a minimum order quantity.

It's expensive to get a game made, and we'll need every penny of our funding goal to bring our game to market. This is also our chance to improve the game by hitting stretch goals — if you back now, you'll be helping make the game cooler.

Springsign is an experiment for us. We’re a small business and crowdfunding is the only way we can bring Springsign to life. It's entirely possible that this will be your best chance to get the game.

Finishing Art — Springsign has roughly 75% of its art assets finished, and our artists can continue working on it as soon as we're funded.

Rulebook Testing — We are currently rulebook testing, which means giving the game to new players and making sure they can learn it from the rulebook. Once we're satisfied the rulebook is as clear, concise, and complete as possible, our graphic designer will go through it and give it a visual overhaul.

Stretch Goal Development — Obviously this is a bit of an unknown. Depending on how many stretch goals we hit, we may need some extra time to finish this stage.

I've tried to include some extra buffer time in these calculations because this is often where delays crop up

Prototyping — Coordinating with the manufacturer on the exact specifications we want for Springsign, then getting samples.

Manufacturing — Once everything's ready, most manufacturers can knock out a print run of a game in a matter of weeks.

Freight and Fulfillment — The games are shipped from the manufacturer to our fulfillment center, which then processes the shipment and begins sending them out to you.

Our estimated 13 months leaves us with a fulfillment period of December 2025. Please note that this would be a disruptive time for worldwide shipping due to the the holiday season, which may make the mail service take longer to get Springsign your door.

Shipping details and payment will be handled through our Pledge Manager, which we will be sending out after Kickstarter. Applicable taxes (including VAT and other sales taxes associated with your region) will be added to each pledge in the pledge manager. For our local backers, you will have the option to have your order set aside for in-store pickup at The End Games in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.

Shipping prices can always fluctuate, so if they swing drastically we will need to adjust. Prices are in USD. Please note that the game only comes in English.

We are The End Games: a friendly local game store in Charlottesville, Virginia. Like you (probably), we're nerds. After we close up shop every night, you can find us playing games of all kinds together. We've been in business since 2010, and over the years we've come to know the board game industry inside and out.

As you might expect, all of our staffers are gamers of one kind or another. Magic is our bread and butter, but we love TCGs, miniatures games, video games, role-playing games, and of course, board games. That's our board game cove you see above (my favorite part of the shop).

We also like to make our own games. At first we only did it for fun, but as our business and community grew, we started to wonder if other people would like what we made. That led us to our idea: what if we developed our own game in-house, and drew on our community of illustrators, designers, writers, number-crunchers, and developers to make it great? Well, for the past 2.5 years that's exactly what we've been doing, and we're beyond excited to release our new game into the world. All we need now is you!

Delays, false advertising, poor budgeting, and other mistakes seem to be recurring risks in crowdfunded projects. To avoid these pitfalls, we've developed this campaign with the following philosophy in mind:
