It is time to sharpen thy shovel once again! Shovel Knight makes his auspicious return to Kickstarter in Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels! Based on the hugely successful crowdfunded video game and made in close cooperation with Yacht Club Games, Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels is a competitive side-scrolling dungeon crawler for 1-4 players. Players compete as different colored Shovel Knights to shovel out justice in spades against the evil Order of No Quarter all while trying to grab the most treasure to prove that they are the one true Shovel Knight!
First things first, you are probably curious what exactly you will be getting at the different pledge levels of a 2D Shovelry Pledge and a 3D Deluxe Shovelry Pledge!
Lets start off with what you will get in the 2D Shovelry Pledge
Both the 2D and 3D Pledge levels will also include one copy of Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels. Here are all the components that are included with the base game:
If you back at the 3D Deluxe Shovelry Pledge level, you will not only get everything included with the 2D Shovelry Pledge, but you will also additionally get 36 highly detailed pre-assembled colored miniatures, with potentially more coming from stretch goals!
Now, lets see what the 3D Deluxe Shovelry Pledge looks like:
You might have spotted the "Wander Shovel Knight Hero Card" as part of both of your pledges. This hero card is playable with our first game, Wander: The Cult of Barnacle Bay, a 1-5 player cooperative campaign driven dungeon crawl! For more information about it, you can visit our website here: http://pandacultgames.com/games/cult-of-barnacle-bay/
For those of you who back at the 3D Deluxe Shovelry Pledge level, the models start with Shovel Knight at 32mm at the top of his helmet, and get bigger from there! Here's a comparison of how he sizes up against some of the members of the Order of No Quarter!
We also had the good fortune of having the amazing Elizabeth Beckley paint a few of our models for us! Check out the showcase below, we couldn't be more excited with how great they look painted!
In this section, we will list any optional add-on's currently available for this campaign!
If you want to add an add-on to your pledge, simply adjust your pledge amount and add the add-on's value to your pledge! It will be available to select during our pledge management phase.
So what makes Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels unique? The core aspect of the game is all about trying to gather the most gold, whether it's from defeating enemies, digging up treasure mounds, damaging bosses, or even taking them from a rival Shovel Knight. We also have our own unique elements, like side scrolling tiles, jumping over spiked pits, equipping unique armor and accessories, and fighting against the dastardly Order of No Quarter!
One of the most unique systems in Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels is the side scrolling system involving the games tiles. Players will always start on the Planes of Passage before they move into one of the lairs of the evil Order of No Quarter, depending on which boss you want to face!
Each dungeon tile set has unique mechanics with unique and increasingly hazardous challenges just like the video game! These dungeon tiles are tied to whichever boss you decide to face at the end of the dungeon. King Knight lords over Pridemoor Keep, Specter Knight haunts the Lich Yard, Plague Knight concocts dangerous potions at the Explodatorium, and the Enchantress schemes in the Tower of Fate.
Pridemoor Keep tiles have impassable walls. This creates randomly generated mazes that the players will need to navigate around.
The Lich Yard tiles feature Lantern-Spaces. Players may attempt to Jump on a Lantern Space and immediately jump to another space with in the same action. After a player has successfully jumped on a Lantern Space, the Lantern is shattered and is replaced with a spike pit tile.
The Explodatorium features exploding Potion Vat tiles. When ever a tile has the Potion Vat symbol on a space, you will place Potion Vat tiles on to that space. Potion Vats are elevated platforms that players will need to successfully jump on to. If a Potion Vat is attacked by a player it explodes and does 2 damage to all adjacent spaces. This may cause and adjacent Potion Vat to explode causing a chain reaction across the board.
The Tower of End tiles feature vanishing Mirage Spaces and impassable walls. When ever a player moves off of a Mirage Space a Spike Pit tile is placed on to that space. This makes the play area become very dangerous very quickly.
During the campaign, we will unlock additional content via Stretch Goals that will add directly to the core box!
