The Hunt Heads to Essen! 🇩🇪 German Rulebook, SPIEL 2026 & Replacement Cards

It's been a little while since our last transmission.
The cryptids, however, have not been sitting quietly in their boxes. And neither have we!
We've been busy roaming tabletop conventions and cryptid cons throughout the summer, meeting fellow hunters along the way and preparing for the next chapter of Kryptothera's adventure. And now, we have three pieces of news to share before the expedition heads to Germany.
🇩🇪 Kryptothera Now Has a German Rulebook!
You asked, we translated!
After many requests from our German-speaking hunters, we're delighted to announce that the Kryptothera rulebook is now available in German!
And we haven't just translated the text. We've carefully adapted and fully laid out the entire rulebook, covering the Base Game, Solo and Co-op Modes, while preserving key English card names and component references so everything matches the physical game you already own.
Because hunting cryptids is challenging enough without having to wrestle with the rulebook!
We've also been busy expanding our Rules & Gameplay FAQ, featuring real questions from our backers and the answers and clarifications we've provided. We'll continue updating it as new questions emerge from the fog.
And if you're still puzzling over the side quests on page 18 of the rulebook, you'll find hints and complete solutions there too, carefully hidden behind spoiler warnings so you can reveal only as much as you need. After all, where's the fun in solving a mystery if someone gives away the ending?

The cryptids are becoming worryingly multilingual!
🎲 Next Stop: SPIEL Essen 2026!
The expedition is heading to Germany, and this time we're bringing the cryptids with us!
From 22–25 October, NoctiLux Games will be exhibiting at SPIEL Essen 2026, the world's largest board game fair!
You'll find us in Hall 2, Stand 2C310, with three tables dedicated to Kryptothera demos and Cryptid Smash also making an appearance.
And we've got a few surprises waiting for you!
Meet the creators of Kryptothera and get your copy signed, take advantage of our special expo prices and bundle offers, and pick up some free extras with multi-buy purchases!
And let's not forget the Flatwoods Monster, our expo-exclusive Legendary Cryptid promo card, available FREE with purchases of the Kryptothera Base Game, while stocks last.
But the excitement begins even before the doors open! On Wednesday 21 October, both Kryptothera and Cryptid Smash will be featured at the official SPIEL Novelties Show, where publishers showcase their games to the international gaming press.
For a small independent publisher attending SPIEL, that's a pretty exciting milestone!
Most importantly, we'd absolutely love to meet you. Whether you've been hunting cryptids since our Kickstarter days or are discovering Kryptothera for the first time, come say hello, share your hunting stories, get your game signed, or join us around the table.

🐉 The Cultural Exchange: Replacement Cards Have Arrived!
And some more good news from Expedition HQ!
As promised in our previous update, we've been working on replacing the two oversized cards in The Cultural Exchange mini-expansion:
Archibald Wentworth (Butler) – Crew Card
Silver-Tipped Cane – Item Card
We're happy to report that the corrected cards have now been manufactured and are safely in our hands!
We're now organising their distribution, aiming to get the replacement card packs to all the backers who received the expansion.
There's nothing you need to do for now. We're taking care of the arrangements, but we want to make sure no hunter gets left behind. If your replacement card pack hasn't arrived by the end of 2026, simply contact us at info@noctilux.co.uk with your Kickstarter backer details, and we'll get it sorted.
We're also putting arrangements in place to ensure future purchases of The Cultural Exchange include a replacement card pack alongside the original expansion.
Thank you for bearing with us while we put this right. We promised we'd fix it, and we're making sure we follow through!
After all, every hunter deserves the right equipment for the expedition.
