Designed by Sen-Foong Lim (MIND MGMT, Corps of Discovery) and Alara Cameron (Kingdom Rush, Clans of Midgard), and new art from Grendel creator, Matt Wagner, this competitive 1-4 player game has you playing as the deadly assassin, Grendel, the Mob, the Police, or the wolf creature, Argent as they each battle for control over New York City.
Every pledge for Grendel will receive a free promo item!! The Assassin includes 1 token and card and adds another twist to the mayhem!
The Press Expansion adds a 5th faction to the fray! The Press can play in any 1, 2, 3, or 4 player game. They use polyominoes to complete their newspapers, take photos, and chase down leads, but they also must protect their sources. This Expansion adds 14 new combinations of setups with the other 4 factions for endless replayability. There are 19 components that are upgraded to wood in the All In Edition: 13 Eyewitness tokens, 1 Scoring marker, 4 Stop the Press tokens, and 1 Aggression marker.
What's this...a new game?!
We are so thrilled to bring you our first family-friendly card game!! It is based on another great comic, The Creeps, written and illustrated by Chris Schweizer, a three-time Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist, writer, concept artist, and illustrator.
The Creeps, a group of kid detectives, investigate all of the spooky happenings in Pumpkins County. Play as the Creeps as you determine which Monsters to research. If you can use your influence to pinpoint the most threatening Monsters, you could earn some major brownie points and maybe even save the town!
The Family Game can be played in 20-30 minutes and involves no reading! The Full Game (described below) features asymmetric character abilities, trap cards, and more strategic scoring.
For this campaign we do not ship to South America or anywhere else not listed in one of the shipping zones above. If your country is not listed, your pledge will need to be refunded post-campaign.
Local Pickup: In Toronto we're using Board Game Bliss and in Vancouver we're using Rain City Games!
Depending on your location, your pledge may or may not be subject to sales tax, VAT, or GST. Any applicable taxes will be collected during the pledge manager, after the campaign.
USA: You may need to pay sales tax depending on your state of residence. Your pledge will be shipped out from within the USA. You will not pay sales tax at the time of delivery.
Tariffs In the USA: We will base shipping prices on the current tariffs for products coming into the US from China. You will not be charged any more if the tariffs increase further.
Canada: GST will be collected in the pledge manager. Your pledge will ship from within Canada. You will not pay GST at the time of delivery.
EU: You will need to pay VAT based on your country of residence (normally between 19-25% of your total pledge plus shipping). Your pledge will be shipped from France. You will not pay duty or VAT at the time of delivery.
UK: You will need to pay 20% of your total pledge plus shipping in VAT. Your pledge will be shipped from the UK. You will not pay duty or VAT at the time of delivery.
Australia & New Zealand: No GST will be collected. Your pledge will ship from within Australia. You will not pay GST at the time of delivery.
All Other Countries: You will not be charged any taxes. Your pledge will be shipped either by VFI Asia or EU fulfillment partners depending on the rate to your country. It will be fulfilled from game retailers in your region. Please consult your local tax authorities to determine potential duty or tax liability.

All USD pricing conversions were done against the current market value on October 1, 2025 ($1.00 CAD = $0.72 USD). Exchange rates constantly change. Since we are unable to change the reward descriptions, we advise you to look at the current exchange rate when the pledge manager is about to close for a more accurate USD price. Remember that your pledge is in Canadian Dollars, and your card will be billed in Canadian Dollars.

Hello Grendelings!!
Great news!! We've just sent the files off to the manufacturer! Whew! There was a lot to do to get all this ready - but we still have a ways to go.
Next step: They'll provide a digital proof. These are files laid out for printing that we can check before they print. If we catch errors here then it doesn't cost us anything to fix them - except more back and forth time.
Then: Once approved, they'll make samples of each game/expansion. We're getting 2 sets made, one to send to me and one to Joe. We're actually going to have a contest between the 2 of us to see who can find the most mistakes (hopefully we find none!!) - because we really want this game to be solid once you get it.
We changed the text boxes on all cards to white with black text, instead of the other way around as it's easier to read this way.
STLS files are ready!
If you got the All-In Edition, then you also get the STLs of each of the 5 boss captains as part of your package! That's ready now!! I'd love to see some pictures if anyone paints their minis!! Simply go back into Hive and log in and go to My Backed Projects. Click on Grendel and you'll see a Download button under Digital Items!
Retail Edition changes
We have made a decision based on cost - for the Retail Edition only - to use punchboard standees with coloured plastic bases for all figures in the game. The cost for the wooden figures along with the extra weight was going to increase the game to $75 or $80 USD! With this punchboard standee solution, we can get it down to $65 USD!!
For those that backed the Retail Edition during the campaign - you'll receive the Wood Figure Upgrade with all the figures since everything we advertised during the campaign was that both editions had wood figures! So you're all getting a better version than what will be available later on in the stores. If you also got one or both of the expansions then we'll make sure you get the wood figures for those expansions as well.
Tower construction
Our manufacturer isn't confident with their ability to pre-construct all the towers perfectly, so we've decided that the end user will have to do it. To help, we're including a simple 1-page instruction sheet that takes you through it. I've done it - and my 9 year old boys have done it without issue - so I am confident it's the right decision.
Rulebooks
This is -by far- our best rulebook ever! You can check out the PDF for yourself! If you do see an error, definitely let me know as we can tweak it before we actually print. On top of this Rulebook, there's also the Solo Rulebook, the Press Rulebook, and the Pursuits and Payoffs Rulebook! That's a lot of rules!
Origins help
If you're going to Origins, have some free time, and are great at explaining games - we'd love to pay you to help us do that! :-) We're looking for people that can commit to at least 4 hours! You can demo Grendel, or any of our other games we have. We pay $20 USD per hour, and if you can give us 16 or more hours, we'll reimburse you for your badge!
