Deliverance: Council of the Fallen

Deliverance is back! Andrew Lowen here, being very informal by writing text among the beautiful images 😁 The quickest summary I can give about why this game is worth backing according to its players are the following things:

• There is both a one-shot Skirmish mode and a challenging story-driven Campaign.
• Set-up is 10 minutes. The thoughtful game inserts make for quick set-up/teardown.
• Deliverance has very dynamic characters with deep customization options.
• The Darkness, Saint, & Prayer systems are thematically unique to Deliverance. Ignore the Darkness at your own peril!
• It respects the serious topics of spiritual warfare and Scripture, but it's also a good game on its own merits. This is probably more shocking to Christians than anybody.
• We release free quarterly content for all our players.

1) Choose Your Angel

Choose from a diverse cast of angelic heroes gifted with control over the elements of the mortal realm and beyond. Each angel has unique abilities and comes with their own set of highly customized skills and upgrades. Angels grow in power and become even more specialized by equipping Heavenly Treasures as you progress. 

Each angel has 125 unique Talent combinations. These combos increase exponentially with over 70 Heavenly Treasure cards that provide variability and special bonuses. These systems work together to make every game feel fresh.

You may play all modes of Deliverance with 1-5 players. Deliverance is well-tested and fast-paced at all player counts (especially with our revamped 4-5 player rules)! As a solo player, you may play with 2 angels, but for the soloists that love the idea of "true" solo, you also have the option to use one angel and the Intercessor board.

2) Battle Against the Forces of Evil

Engage your demonic adversaries in grid-based, cooperative, tactical combat. You must use your limited actions wisely to send your foes to the abyss and survive their onslaught. While Deliverance does use dice for bonus rolls, combat in Deliverance is deterministic, meaning you will never frustratingly miss that critical final blow.

The demons won't make it easy for you, though! Enemies use a simple-to-execute menu of actions that involve both skills that always activate and actions determined by the roll of the dice. You will have a difficult time predicting your foes, as each demon type's customized decision tree will often force you to adapt quickly or suffer defeat!

3) Deliver The Saints From Darkness

The Saints of Fallbrook act as battlefield objectives represented on the board as mortals that you must protect. Your demonic adversaries will try to oppress them, which causes Darkness to enter the spiritual realm. You must defend them, or suffer the consequences of their oppression as more Darkness enters the battlefield.

The Darkness card system forces difficult decisions about how to use your limited actions. You must hold back the tide of Darkness as you combat the demons, or suffer the consequences as your forces are hampered and the demons are bolstered.

Fortunately, angels may receive divine aid through Prayer to overcome even the most dire conditions! Pray actions allow angels to cast down Darkness, remove afflictions, revive allies, and gain powerful Prayer cards which can turn the tide of battle.

4) Defeat The Fallen Prince!

Defeat the hordes of demons before you to force a confrontation with the Fallen Princes leading the demonic armies. These mighty demonic commanders present new surprises, intensified Darkness, and devastating attacks for a final showdown of epic proportions!

Deliverance can be played in multiple modes: Skirmish, Campaign, and Scenario.

Skirmish is a "one shot" adventure with a random set-up, making it a great choice for game night with friends. If your gamer group is skilled, you can ramp up the intensity across 5 difficulty levels from Adventure to Infernal!

The Campaign is a series of connected missions where you will grow in power, uncover the schemes of the Council of the Fallen (or delve into the mystery of Fallbrook in the base game), and make choices that reveal secrets and determine the fate of Fallbrook. Once you are ready, you may return to any Campaign mission to complete its' Challenge - these are intensely difficult missions meant for skillful, powered up angels!

Lastly, a Scenario blends the dynamic leveling and quick one-shot experience of Skirmish games with the unique victory conditions and custom battle set-up of a Campaign mission.

If you want to try Deliverance before you back it, we have two digital ways for you to do just that. Deliverance is free to use on both Board Game Arena and Tabletop Simulator! We do not have expansion content on either system yet, but this will give you a strong idea of if this game is for you. You can even find a group to teach you the rules on our Discord Server in the #Looking-For-Group channel.
