Computer Junkyard

You found a box of old software games at a yard sale and can’t wait to play them with your friends. To your dismay, modern computers won’t run them. So, you all race to build vintage computers out of spare parts.

Welcome to the Computer Junkyard, the perfect place to find all the components you will need! Scavenge for parts with just the cash in your pockets. Sabotage, steal, and trade with your opponents. Be the first to build a computer good enough to run your game!

Assemble Your Computer Like a Dynamic Puzzle

The tiles have different configurations that create a challenging - and satisfying - puzzle element. It's going to take all of your cunning, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills to assemble everything before your opponents do.

Your software game has requirements too

Memory, disk space, and CPU power cost a lot more way back when, and cash is going to be tight. You'll have to satisfy its minimum requirements, and everyone's hunting for the same things.

Watch out for pesky bugs!

Computers had a lot more bugs back in the day.  Opponents can bug your hardware to slow you down. No worries... there's plenty of bug spray to help you debug.

Race for parts before they're gone

Vintage computer parts are scarce, and prices change fast as they are bought and sold at the Junkyard. Hoard components and you'll drive up prices - if you've got the cash.

Computer Junkyard is played in rounds, each made up of three short phases. Rounds continue until a winner is declared.

Phase 1: Take an Action 

Visit the Junkyard
Each turn players add hardware to the Junkyard that increases the inventory, and the prices adjust depending upon how many are there when you visit. Cash is tight! Play strategically and you just might turn a profit.

 
Attempt a Theft
To challenge your opponents, and avoid spending your money, you can attempt a theft with a roll of the die.

 
Debug Your Computer
When a player sabotages your computer with a bug, you'll need to try and remove it. You can keep playing, but you can't win with a buggy computer!

Phase 2: Build the Computer

Everyone builds their computers simultaneously within a short time limit. If you've left anything disconnected when time runs out, it's moved off of your chassis where it's easier to steal!

  
Installing Software
If you finish your computer with time to spare, install your software tile by connecting it as your very last action. 

Phase 3: System Check

Once time expires, players inspect each other's computers to make sure they were indeed built correctly. Consult the block diagram to verify the color-coded connections. Misplaced hardware is moved off the chassis to be reconnected in a future round.

Declare a Winner

If you're the first to install your software tile, and your computer is complete, bug-free, and meets the software's specs, you've won! Otherwise, the game continues.

Only available to our Kickstarter backers is this set of three custom “software games within the game” that can be used when playing Computer Junkyard. It is available as an add-on or included with several of our reward tiers (shown in the next section).

Exclusive #2: Personalized, Custom Software Tile
If you decide to pledge our Computer Junkyard Terabyte Build Tier (shown in the next section), it includes our Gigabyte Build tier with the addition of a personalized, custom software game keepsake. And it can also be played in Computer Junkyard. This custom tile is uniquely yours. No other backers will receive this tile.

Within a few weeks after the campaign ends, one of our team members will reach out to gather the information needed to create your custom software tile.

Please refer to the pricing table below based upon geographic region. This is strictly an estimate. The cost to ship your order may be higher or lower depending upon a) the set of products you have selected, and b) your final destination. The chart excludes any sales tax, VAT, duties, and any other applicable fees that may pertain to your destination within the region. To minimize the total costs, we will collect the final shipping amount closer to our manufacturer's confirmed shipping date.

Our fulfillment process:

First
Once the campaign ends, Kickstarter will process your final pledge amount for the products you have selected (the 5% discount off of your total pledge will be applied as a credit to the shipping charge, and handled as a separate transaction closer to when we are ready to ship).

Second
Approxmiately 2 weeks thereafter, our payment processing partner, BackerKit.com, will contact you via email to confirm your pledge, and you will have an opportunity to add any additional Computer Junkyard items you may like. Payment will be collected for these additional items.

Third
Shortly before our confirmed ship date, BackerKit.com will contact you again to re-confirm your order. In compliance with state, federal, and international law, we will collect the applicable shipping, sales tax, duties, VATs, and required fees that may apply to your destination.  For international customers, this will allow your product to arrive at your doorstep without any further action on your part (Our VIPs will see the 5% pledge discount applied to the shipping charge as described earlier).

Impact of Potential Tariffs
There may or may not be an impact to the final amount to be paid in the event tariffs are imposed. We will work hard with our manufacturers and fulfillment vendors to minimize any impact this may have.

Exclusions
In the event international law prevents us from shipping to your destination, and you have made a pledge, we will refund the amount you pledged without question.
