How to Play - 3 Variants!

Variant 1

Step One: Pull four cats at random from the big bag o' cats and wedge them in the base.

*Remove one cat from the bag if you are playing with an odd number of players, so everyone gets the same number of turns. 

Step Two: On your turn, pull a cat at random from the bag and place it on the stack.

Count the least number of cats between your cat ad the wooden base, and ADD that value to your score!

If the cat stack collapses on your turn, count the cats that fell and ADD that number to your score. Then pick up the cat you tried to place, and give it another shot. 
Note: Every turn, you MUST successfully place a cat on the stack without it collapsing, then score that cat. Sometimes this might mean multiple collapses in the same turn! You'll need to add the points from each one to your score. Cats can be real jerks like that..... 

Keep playing until the Bag O' Cats is empty. The cat wrangler with the FEWEST points win!

Add the Black Cats from the small bag to the regular cats in the big bag.
Note: If you are playing with 5 players, leave one non-black cat out of the bag.

Draw 4 cats of any color (including black) from the bag and wedge into the base.

Play according to the rules above. If you draw a black cat, place it and score it normally. HOWEVER, any cats placed afterwards that touch the black cat will gain 2 points, IN ADDITION to regular scoring! You don't want a black cat crossing your path!

Variant 2

Step One: Pull four cats at random from the big bag o' cats and wedge them in the base.

*Remove one cat from the bag if you are playing with an odd number of players, so everyone gets the same number of turns. 

Step Two: On your turn, pull a cat at random from the bag and place it on the stack.

Count the least number of cats between your cat ad the wooden base, MULTIPLY BY 2, and ADD that value to your score!

If placing the cat causes the cat tower to collapse, you lose one point for each cat that fell, of any color. Subtract those points to your score, then put the fallen cats aside.

You will then pick up the cat you tried to place this turn and give it another try!

Note: Every turn, you MUST successfully place a cat on the stack without it collapsing, then score that cat. Sometimes this might mean multiple collapses in the same turn! You'll need to add the points from each one to your score. Cats can be real jerks like that..... 

Keep playing until the Bag O' Cats is empty. The person with the MOST points wins and is crowned the cat whisperer.

Variant 3

Step One: Pull the black cats and the cats of any ONE other color from the bag. Put them on the table where everyone can reach them. The rest of the cats go in the Big Bag O' Cats. 

Step Two: Pull four cats at random from the big bag o' cats and wedge them in the base.

Step Three: On your turn, select a cat from the ones on the table, and place it on the stack. Take turns selecting and stacking the cats until all the table cats are stacked. NOW THE CHALLENGE BEGINS!

Step Four: The next players draws a cat from the Bag O' Cats and places it on the stack. This is your first point!

Keep taking turns stacking until the stack collapses OR the bag is empty.

Record your score in the Colonnade of Competent Clowders!

Shipping Information

We are partnering with Hive Pledge Management and GamesQuest to manage shipping and fulfillment costs after the campaign. Due to volatility with shipping costs, we are not collecting shipping payments until well after the campaign.

Several weeks after the campaign you will receive an email through Kickstarter/Hive that will confirm your pledge and give an opportunity to add any additional add-ons, and verify shipping details. If you are a VIP, pre-campaign supporter, you will receive your bonus add-on item during this phase.

SHIPPING DETAILS

• We are shipping globally with hubs in the US/Canada and UK/EU. Depending on demand, we will be seeking hubs for Australia and other regions. This may decrease final shipping rates.
• TX residents will be asked to pay sales tax
• Any VAT/Sales tax rates will vary and we cannot provide an estimate until shipping details are collected. Any additional VAT/Sales tax will be provided in the pledge manager before you click 'ship'.
• We cannot guarantee delivery if you do not confirm your pledge once the pledge manager closes. We will send several reminder emails after the campaign closes to confirm your pledge, so be on a lookout!

Our Story

Hey All! We are NTSD Gaming: a little company started and run by a delightfully nerdy lady, along with the support of her husband/board game nemesis and 4 other trusty companions who manage the meeples. We develop, produce and sell all manner of tabletop gaming accessories!

NTSD started as a crafty side hustle 10 years ago, occupying the hours in between many many games of Dominion, Lords of Waterdeep, and Castles of Burgundy. Since then, our gaming shelf and our family have grown a lot! As our kiddos have gotten interested in what Mom and Dad are doing, we've started getting into kids games that are fun for adults too!

Stack o' Cats happened during 2020, when spare time was more of a thing, and we wanted a simple game to play with kids and friends. We found and laser cut some wooden cat profiles, wedged them in a base, and gave them away to friends around town! Everyone loved it, so we decided to try and share it with families of tabletop nerds everywhere!

We've poured our heart and soul into this game - days of research on what's out there, tons of time getting the art just right, and hours coughing up hairballs onto the kitchen floor...

We're so excited to share the final result with families, friends, and fur-babies everywhere! We hope this is a game that can gather everyone around your table, regardless of their opinions on cats!

Meet Our Team

Sarah "Freedz" Conlon is a German artist who creates whimsical and cartoony art, with a particular passion for illustrating board games. She lives in a cozy log cabin nestled in the green mountains of Vermont. Her journey into digital illustrations began during the lockdown in March 2020, when she taught herself how to draw digitally using Procreate on her iPad. Carra Sykes is an illustrator, designer, and mama living in Texas with her wife and kids. She creates work that is colorful and bold with a bit of playfulness and seriousness mixed together.
