Monarchs of Camelot

Monarchs of Camelot transports players into Arthurian lore where in the aftermath of the Battle of Camlann, the kingdom of Camelot has been left with a permanent scar. Arthur, the King of Britain, has fallen. Without the wisdom of the mourned king and lacking a legitimate heir, the Camelot begins to fracture, with enemies both old and new lurking to dismantle its remains.

In Monarchs of Camelot players become legendary leaders aiming to prove their worth and claim the throne. This Arthurian-themed game mixes storytelling and dynamic asymmetrical play to ensure a unique experience for each player. This is highlighted by a unique tableau building system - we call it "Splay".

Players will advance their characters and the narrative, directly impacting their abilities and options through careful management of their resources. They will earn Prestige Points by moving the narrative forward and completing their personal goals. The first to reach 10 Prestige Points wins the game.

👩‍🏫 How to Play

What is "Splay"? The Decision cards are designed with two halves. To play a Decision card, slide it under the Basic Monarch card if it's the first card on that side. If not, slide it under the leftmost or rightmost card already placed there, ensuring only the half relevant to your decision is visible. This action is called “splaying” a Decision card.

🕵️ Solo Play

The Automa Expansion for solo play is designed by the acclaimed designer Vangelis Bagiartakis, known for Hegemony: Lead your class to Victory. The Automa Expansion simulates the decisions of the other players taking into consideration the flow of the story and the personal advancement of the characters. 

The Automa Expansion contains 4 Automa Decks, one for each character and it is designed to let you enjoy Monarchs of Camelot solo or with fewer players by using AI-controlled characters. Each of the four Automas can take on the role of any character, following its own unique AI to make decisions in place of human players. This expansion allows you to experience the game when opponents aren't available, or even mix Automas with human players for a different multiplayer dynamic.
